One thing I learned in my 25-year career in the retail and CPG industries is that when it comes to getting some help for a data and analytics project, there is scarce help available in the market. Sure, the big management and auditing consultancies will gladly assist any company, but many times I could not afford the hefty price tags, long engagement commitments, and internal SMEs necessary for a successful project.
For example, many big consultancies push clients towards longer engagements that last several months -- even if you only need a small project that takes a week. They are experts at linking your one-week project to a bigger problem, and a bigger engagement. And in terms of the quality of analytical resources, they tend to leverage recent college graduates (albeit very bright) but who are learning on the job.
